From the "A/R Main Menu", select the "Work With Task Codes" option. The following panel will appear:

The Task Codes that have been created are listed in alphabetical order.  The Task codes are of two distinct types.  Those without a storer number are known as global, or blanket, task codes and will appear first.  Those with a storer number are unique to that storer.  During all processing, a storer specific task code is always used first if it is found, thus a storer specific task code will take precedence over a global one.

In the body of the panel you will see the storer number.  To find and review Task Codes that are specific to a given storer, type in the storer number on the Storer Line near the top of the screen.

Next you will see the task code used to reference the charge information.  Beside the task code column is the description of the charge.

The auto-charge column indicates if the charge will be automatically applied to bills of lading.  The last two columns are the basis for invoicing (i.e. per pallet, per cubic foot, etc. ) and rate to be used for the charge for the Task .

To make changes to an existing task code, place the "Change" option next to it and press the <Enter> key.  To create a new Task Code press the <F6> key.  The following panel will appear.

Type in the unique Task Code .  Enter a storer number if this Task Code is a storer specific code.  Leave the storer number blank if this task is a global charge structure that could be applied across multiple accounts.  Next enter the description of the charge.  This will be the default description whenever the task code is referenced.

The next set of entries defines the amount to charge.  The rate is the amount to charge for each unit of basis .  Type in the dollar amount to charge the customer followed by the bases.  The following is a list and definition of the valid basis :

BasisMeaningDefinition
EAEachThe quantity will be supplied during entry of this charge.
FHPer DocumentThis indicates that the charge is per bill or tally.
LLPer LineFor inbound charges this is the number of lines on the tally, for outbound charges this is the number of original lines on the bill, not counting lines split for multiple lots or locations.
QYQuantityThis is the total of all quantities on the bill or receiver.
OQOverride QuantityThis is the override quantity associated with a bill of lading. If no override exists, or if this is an inbound charge, the total quantity is used.
CFCubic FeetThe total number received or shipped is multiplied by the cubic feet in the item master file.
PLPer PalletThe number of pallets is calculated for each line of a receiver or bill based upon the information in the item master file. On an outbound order, if the number of pallets was entered during shipment confirmation, that number is used instead.
CW100 WeightThe total gross weight from the header is used. This weight is calculated during entry. Lot unit weights are used where appropriate. The total received is multiplied by the weight per item in the item master.

The minimum is used to indicate a minimum amount to charge, i.e. if the rate times the base unit is $4.56 and the minimum charge is $5.00, the computed charge will be $5.00.

A markup can be added to the charge.  The markup is a percentage with up to 4 decimal positions.  It is useful for establishing a base rate for a service and negotiating a percentage markup for each individual client.  For instance, if a stenciling charge is calculated at 15 cents a case and a particular client has difficult cases to stencil, the global task code would be entered with a rate of .1500 and a basis of 'CS'.  A storer specific task code could be entered the same way but with a .5000 or 50% markup.

The ledger code and sub-code determine how this amount will be categorized for revenue reporting purposes.

The auto-charge flag indicates that this charge should be levied each time a receipt or bill of lading is created in WDLS.  If the value is set to an "I", WDLS will add the charge to each receiver.  (If the storer is blank, the charge is levied across all accounts.  If the storer number was entered, it is levied only against receipts for that account.)  Type an "O" if the charge is to be levied on each bill of lading.  Use a value of "N" if you do not wish this charge to be automatically applied.  The auto-charge is typically set if there is a fixed fee for producing the shipping paperwork, a fee for stenciling or labeling the cartons, etc.  It helps to ensure that the charge is always applied.

The Recalculate At Posting flag indicates whether a task code with a Basis of 'QY' should have the quantities recalculated at the time the Accessorial Invoice is created.

The task on quote flag is used to indicate if the task should be listed on a quote sheet.  A quote sheet is used to review the charging structure for an account.  A value of 'Y' indicates the task should be listed.  Once you have completed the panel, press the <Enter> key to return to "Work With Task Codes" screen.
